9 Hole Golf
9 Hole Golf Group @ Diablo Hills. Lunch after golf!
Each year Nine Hole Golf awards two Championships: the 9 hole Flight Championship and the Nine Hole Tournament Championship. The 2023 winners are:
2023 Nine Hole Golf Flight Champion – Tony de Grassi
The Flight Championship is awarded to the golfer who scores the highest number of points for the year in our weekly events. Each week the top 3 golfers with the lowest net scores are awarded points using our Branch’s Golf Club scoring system.
Nine Hole Tournament Champion: Chris Doan
The Nine Hole Tournament is played in December. The Tournament consists of 3 rounds played on 3 of the courses we play during the year. Each golfer picks 2 rounds from the 3 played for his Tournament score. The golfer with the lowest net score for 2 rounds is our Champion.
The 9 Hole Golf Club is open to golfers of all levels. We play every Wednesday morning except holidays at 5 courses in the area. Each month we play the Pleasanton Golf Club 9 hole course, Diablo Hills, Buchanan Fields and Brentwood Golf Club. First tee time is 10:00 am. In months with a 5th Wednesday we will play Rossmoor twice and Buchanan Fields twice. The Rossmoor tee times are between 12:00 noon and 2:00 pm. Buchanan Fields first tee time is 10:00 am. The 9 hole golf events are scored on a handicapped net basis.
The event organizers send out weekly e-mail announcements. If you would like to play in any of these events, you can sign up by:

Championships: The 9-Hole Group awards two Championships each year: the 9-Hole Flight Champion and the Annual 9-Hole Tournament Champion. The 9-Hole Flight Champion is the golfer with the highest point total for the year. Points are awarded to the first, second and third place finishers at each of the 9-hole events. The point system is the same used by the 18-Hole Club . Each December we hold a 3 round 9-Hole Golf Tournament. The Champion is the golfer with the lowest net total for 2 rounds.
9-Hole Group Rules:
All scoring at 9-hole events is on a net basis. An NCGA index is not required. Darrell McClaughry computes a 9-hole index for each golfer based on SIR 9-hole scores. If you have an NCGA index, you may use your NCGA index at 9-hole events.
At each event, golf balls are awarded to the 3 golfers on the green and closest to the pin on one designated par 3. Three balls to the golfer closest to the pin, two for second closest and one for third. No mulligan’s for the closest to the pin awards.
The Fast Play Guidelines, Courtesy Guidelines and Rules documented in this website also apply to the 9-Hole Group.
There is a 9-hole “hole-in-one pot”. Fee is $5. When an investor makes a hole-in-one at one of our 9-hole outings they will win the pot, and we will start collecting for a new one.
