18-Hole Club Championship

Points are awarded to members only for each weekly 18-hole tournament. These points count toward the annual Club Championship.

Golfers compete for the first three low net spots each week in one of four flights. Golfers are assigned to flights using their index at the beginning of the year and stay in that flight throughout the year. Flight #1 may choose which tees they play – Regular (usually White) or Forward (usually Gold). All other flights play from the forward tees. Golfers joining the club during the year are assigned to a flight based on the earliest index available for the year. Index ranges in flights vary from year to year. Flights are rebalanced each year based on the number of rounds played the previous year.

2024 Flights NCGA Index
First flight: 0.0 – 19.5
Second flight: 19.6 – 25.2
Third flight: 25.3 – 29.9
Fourth flight: 30.0 – 54.0

Low net in each flight and ties are awarded three points. Second low net in each flight and ties are awarded two points. Third low net in each flight and ties are awarded one point. (If two people tie for the first in the flight, they each get three points and that takes first and second place, next low net will get 1 point for third, etc.)

In case of yearly ties in points for first or second place in a flight, the tie will be broken by the most low nets, then if still tied, by the most second low nets, then if still tied, by the lower NCGA index at the end of the year.

Each flight winner will be custodian for one year of a perpetual plaque with their name engraved. Monetary prizes will be awarded to first and second place winners in each flight.

9-Hole Club Championships

The 9-Hole Club awards two Championships each year: the 9-Hole Flight Champion and the Annual 9-Hole Tournament Champion.

The 9-Hole Flight Champion is the golfer with the highest point total for the year. Points are awarded to the first, second and third place finishers at each of the 9-hole events. The point system is the same used by the 18-Hole Group.

Each December a 3 round 9-Hole Golf Tournament is held. The Champion is the golfer with the lowest net total for 2 rounds.

Closest to the Hole

18-Hole Group:  Four sleeves of balls will be awarded for tee shots closest to the hole.  Competition will be within each flight on a designated par 3 as determined by the Organizer.

9-Hole Group:  Three awards will be made for tee shots closest to the hole on one designated hole.  Three balls to the player closest; two balls to the player second closest; one ball to the player third closest.

Most Rounds Played (18-Hole Group)

Awarded to the golfer in any flight who plays the most rounds

Most Improved Golfer (18-Hole Group)

Awarded to the golfer who plays at least 20 rounds with us in a year, and improves his index from the first of the year to the end of December, by the greatest ratio, as calculated by the NCGA formula

Hole-In-One Pots

There are separate “pots” of money for the member who has invested $5 (for 9-hole events), or $5 (for 18-hole events).  You must get your hole-in-one in one of our weekly 9 or 18 hole SIR events.  When anyone gets a hole-in-one in one of our events, we pay off from the appropriate pot, and start collecting again.  Pay the hole-in-one coordinator.  The state SIR organization provides a “feather-in-the-cap” award.
